Reaction and Thought

The reaction is born out of action, but action is not born out of reaction. All the reactions are a product of thought, so essentially thought is never an action, but only a reaction. If we look at this closely, thought is never really of the present moment it is always a reaction born out of the past, every single thought, the most glorious to the pettiest one, is essentially a stored reaction to an action that we see. One reaction gives way to another reaction and this swirling of thoughts go on, through the dissection of the previous thought by the current thought and this goes on as long as we try to dissect each thought and try to put an end to it, which never seems possible.

The interesting point from the action to this reaction formation happens in micro or nanoseconds each, but if we can increase the interval from the time we see a thing and our reaction to it through thought, by observing the reaction forming and dissecting the mechanism of the thought without interfering in the observation, it becomes clear that the reaction mechanism of thought automatically slows down to a greater extent, as we can feel while writing this. The more attentive our observation over ourselves, without interference and any form of effort, the more the stillness of mind.

But when we try to put an end to thought by dissecting it and try to fix one thought with another, it only gives rise to more problems and not any solution, also giving rise to superstition after superstition, since trying to put an end to the thought-through effort is rooted in fear. This phenomenon most of us could have observed while watching a match or a race, for the team we support, we tend to be more fearful and cautious that the team we support should win, for example, CSK. What this reaction mechanism of thought does is that it forms superstition after superstition each second, never allowing us to watch clearly and peacefully by completely paralyzing our mind.

However, there is an easy way that needs no dissection, absolutely no effort, but only constant attention through observation without any interference or obstruction to the movement of thought, eventually slowing down the reaction mechanism and making us watch everything clearly and peacefully, ultimately leading to absolute stillness of mind. The only interesting thing to note here is that this attention through observation may last for a few seconds or few minutes or few hours or few days, the moment when we try to sustain the attention through effort again, it becomes a product of the reaction mechanism and thought, once we are aware of this fact also it becomes very clear. Thank You!

My memories with MS Dhoni

My memories with MS Dhoni : In December 2004, during a half yearly holidays in my high school he came in as a fashionable young wicket keeper, had seen many specialist keepers come and go in that period such as Parthiv Patel, DK, Ajay Ratra, Deep Dasgupta, so was not having any awe in him and getting a run out in hurried manner wasn't an impressive first showing. Was ignorant of the facts behind then, that he came from 3 centuries with India A in Kenya. Slowly as the days progressed, one rainy noon on the summer of April 2005, came back from an Annual exam to see India scoring more than 300 runs in the ODI against Pakistan in Vizag, from the scorecard saw that there was a change in batting order with MS Dhoni at 3 scoring 148 runs at a quick pace, but even then didn't have an awe in him. Days progressed through 2005, near a Deepavali day I was having a holiday, there was an ongoing ODI series against Sri Lanka, the series was already decided with India had won it comfortably al

Transformation of data and analytics with information technology

The world we are in is driven by data. In other words, Data has been the backbone behind this transformation with technology. In the early days, trade was driven purely by commodity exchange for which the data was captured in numerics. Later, after the invention of coins and subsequently printed money the idea of market expanded with the printed money being able to be a common currency. For this study, let us take the emergence of the United States' economy. From the advent of market economy starting 19th century, consequently there was a need for a banking system and public investment through stock markets and US had higher flow of goods and services, enabling a larger consumer base which meant the data was saved in paper and pen. This resulted in a need to store this data better, which the technology enablers started doing throughout the 20th century. So for this it needed to be stored in servers for there was a visual input and output needed. This enabled the pursu

India's Economy - Thinking through the Journey and the Road Ahead

What comes into our mind when we first hear the word 'India'? Diversity? More than 1000 year old monuments? A land of wisdom? Crowded places? The skyscrapers, fast highways may come as the last pictures in one's memory. India has always been a great place for pilgrimages wherein people come in the quest to understand the true meaning of the life that has been given to them. People of India come from the ethnicity of saving and trying to live a life with contentment. But this contentment has been slowly fading in the age of consumerism. Let us see the journey of India economy and its chances of blooming in the future. The Journey: Years 1947 to 1990 :  After Independence, India had adapted the socialist and protectionist principles mainly assuming that adapting capitalism would be letting something similar to East Indian Company through the back door after attaining independence. So the state was keen to keep all the powers and licenses of businesses under its co
