To develop a vaccine or to understand about the microorganism, the pathologists take one sample of millions and do a genome sequencing and create a vaccine based on it's DNA/RNA or as a whole inactivated copy of the single microorganism.

Similarly, we can understand the process of mind, when we decode and examine just one thought completely out of the 1000's thoughts that we get each day.
