The deserved PM for Bharat Ratna

The nominations are open for the Padma awards for 2021.

This would mark the 30th year of Economic reforms. It would be great if the government awards Bharat Ratna to the former PM, PV Narasimha Rao, one of the most underspoken PM.

Consciously feel if not for the economic reforms of liberalisation in 1991 reducing monopoly, implemented through by then Finance minster Dr.Manmohan Singh and effective economists and bureaucrats then, most of the 80's and 90's kids wouldn't have a sophisticated life today and almost 20 crore people are lifted out of poverty in the 30 years.

But it was equally important to credit the then Prime minister PV Narasimha Rao, for his political direction and craft, disguising the change as a continuity, to get the consensus. Though the manufacturing, agriculture and educational reforms were left behind, which we are still looking to reform. But India took away with services sector.

Some interesting facts, PV Narasimha Rao announced the retirement from politics before the 1991 general elections and was planning to take up sanyasam. But due to some unforeseen events, he became an accidental PM with a minority government when the country's economy was in a bad shape, the world had come out of gulf war and Soviet was collapsing.

Either by choice or compulsion or by luck, he appointed Dr.Singh as the finance minister and had some good economists around. Then GDP growth shoot up from 1% in his first year to 8% for the first time in Indian history in his 4th and 5th years of office. Since 1991, our average growth has been around 7%, one of the fastest in the world.

Also some lesser known facts about the former PM PV Narasimha Rao, under his  leadership tenure India's nuclear capability was increased, the famous pokran setup was almost done in his tenure, it was then tested 2 years later in 1998, which the mission director Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam and former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee also acknowledged.

PV could fluently speak 10 languages and known as the scholar Prime Minister, he had profound knowledge in sanskrit and Upanishads.

More interestingly he learned to code in COBOL in late 1980's when he was in his 60's it would be fitting to give him a Bharat Ratna, for his economic reforms, look east foreign policies, ensuring stability in Punjab. Though there were claims of his non action in his slowness to act on babri masjid in 1992, but the single blot can't undermine his political leadership in economic reforms.

Today as we stand in a position for second generation reforms to take the country forward. As expanding the economy, is the best way to eliminate social and economical differences in the society and upliftment of people subsequently.

If anyone consciously feels he deserves a Bharat Ratna, can nominate him from the Padma awards link.

Note : For nominating it is mandatory to share aadhar number ! The opinions expressed here are the personal perceptions based on the facts the writer captured.

My memories with MS Dhoni

My memories with MS Dhoni : In December 2004, during a half yearly holidays in my high school he came in as a fashionable young wicket keeper, had seen many specialist keepers come and go in that period such as Parthiv Patel, DK, Ajay Ratra, Deep Dasgupta, so was not having any awe in him and getting a run out in hurried manner wasn't an impressive first showing. Was ignorant of the facts behind then, that he came from 3 centuries with India A in Kenya. Slowly as the days progressed, one rainy noon on the summer of April 2005, came back from an Annual exam to see India scoring more than 300 runs in the ODI against Pakistan in Vizag, from the scorecard saw that there was a change in batting order with MS Dhoni at 3 scoring 148 runs at a quick pace, but even then didn't have an awe in him. Days progressed through 2005, near a Deepavali day I was having a holiday, there was an ongoing ODI series against Sri Lanka, the series was already decided with India had won it comfortably al

Transformation of data and analytics with information technology

The world we are in is driven by data. In other words, Data has been the backbone behind this transformation with technology. In the early days, trade was driven purely by commodity exchange for which the data was captured in numerics. Later, after the invention of coins and subsequently printed money the idea of market expanded with the printed money being able to be a common currency. For this study, let us take the emergence of the United States' economy. From the advent of market economy starting 19th century, consequently there was a need for a banking system and public investment through stock markets and US had higher flow of goods and services, enabling a larger consumer base which meant the data was saved in paper and pen. This resulted in a need to store this data better, which the technology enablers started doing throughout the 20th century. So for this it needed to be stored in servers for there was a visual input and output needed. This enabled the pursu

India's Economy - Thinking through the Journey and the Road Ahead

What comes into our mind when we first hear the word 'India'? Diversity? More than 1000 year old monuments? A land of wisdom? Crowded places? The skyscrapers, fast highways may come as the last pictures in one's memory. India has always been a great place for pilgrimages wherein people come in the quest to understand the true meaning of the life that has been given to them. People of India come from the ethnicity of saving and trying to live a life with contentment. But this contentment has been slowly fading in the age of consumerism. Let us see the journey of India economy and its chances of blooming in the future. The Journey: Years 1947 to 1990 :  After Independence, India had adapted the socialist and protectionist principles mainly assuming that adapting capitalism would be letting something similar to East Indian Company through the back door after attaining independence. So the state was keen to keep all the powers and licenses of businesses under its co
